Our Vision

We Have a Big Vision "do you?"

As parents, professionals and community members, the volunteers of the Bright Lights Projects are deeply conscious of the many factors that restrict people’s opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Our work focuses on addressing three key areas: health, social and education. This is represented as ‘The Three Torches of the Bright Lights Trivium’

  • Mind – academic excellence
  • Social – civic-mindedness
  • Body – health and wellbeing

'The Mind Torch'
Aspiring to academic excellence

Our goal is to support every individual to fulfil their academic potential in literacy, numeracy and other educational life skills.

'The Social Torch'
Aspiring to civic-mindedness

We believe that it is important for all individuals to positively and actively contribute to their communities. We also support endeavours that strengthen family values ideas of civic-mindedness. Our organisation is committed to addressing the root causes of anti-social behaviour and providing individuals with the moral direction that is needed for each of them to take their place as a conscientious member of British society. By emphasising the importance of sound personal ethics and the need to contribute to the community, we intend to address the factors that have led to civil disorder and resulted in enormous cost to home-owners, businesses and local councils.

'The Body Torch'
Aspiring to health and wellbeing

A primary aim of our 'Body Torch' is to lower obesity levels amongst children and adults. Our organisation is supported by qualified healthcare practitioners which include doctors, dentists, pharmacists and dieticians. We provide dietary education to work in tandem with our sports and physical education programme to promote self-esteem and to motivate individuals to take personal responsibility for their health.

'The Three Torches' of the Bright Lights reflect our commitment to the holistic support for people’s academic, physical and social development reflect the determination of our organisation to ensure that the maximum benefit is achieved with available resources.

Bright Lights Projects are committed to supporting our community through initiatives that cater for the academic, social and health needs of people independent of their social, religious and cultural heritages, providing them the resources they need to fulfil their potential and become upstanding citizens of the future.

About Us

Committed since 2007

Advancing the community’s hopes for everyone to become healthy, conscientious and productive future members of modern, democratic Britain.

The Bright Lights Projects is a non-profit organisation in the north of England working towards improving the health, civic-mindedness and academic achievements of members of our communities. Our group is a registered voluntary body that has been active since 2007 and consists of a group of professionals and business-people principally based in the borough of Calderdale. The group has a broadly even number of men and women.

We are proud to have had the opportunity to address some of the factors that compromise the potential of people in our area. Our goal is to produce well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically, but who are also anchored by strong moral values and a desire to support their local communities.
